Rooted in Burlington. Ready to Lead.

I’m an internationally trained lawyer. I studied law in the United Kingdom with a year abroad in France. While in France, I interned at the European Court of Human Rights. I have obtained a Master’s degree in law with a focus on Banking and Finance from the McGill University Faculty of Law. Later I attended the New York University’s Stern School of Business and joined a New York City-based hedge fund as legal counsel.   The seeds of my career were planted in Burlington and cultivated through experiences beyond it. I served as a Legislative Page at Queen’s Park, articled on Bay Street in the heart of Canada’s financial district, and worked in New York City. Now marriage, a growing family and service aspirations beckon me back home - to Brant Street and City Hall - where I hope to help shape the next chapter of our community’s future.  Burlington is home: I studied at Assumption Catholic High School, worked as a lifeguard at the local YMCA and bagged groceries for Mr. Denninger at his iconic Guelph Line store. I understand first-hand what Burlington has to offer including excellent schools, robust municipal services, safety and a unique community feel.   As a high school student, I led a political initiative to strengthen road safety laws, helping reduce risks for young drivers. A decade later in 2020, during the COVID pandemic, I founded one of Canada’s largest pro bono legal organizations. The aim was to help as many as possible - for free. The satisfaction of that remains a huge memory for me. I mobilized more than 400 graduate lawyers and active students, supported by more than 50 top lawyers trapped at home during COVID, to deliver free services Canada-wide. As I start my own family, I feel deep commitment to public service and to preserving what makes Burlington and our neighbourhoods special. Ensuring that future generations can enjoy the same quality of life here is a responsibility I am proud to embrace. I want to bring a forward-looking perspective to City Council, focused on fiscal responsibility, smart growth, safe communities and long-term planning in a rapidly changing world.  Outside of work, I am active and engaged locally— often playing basketball at Nelson Park, running local trails and enjoying Burlington’s restaurants with family and friends.

Fiscal Responsibility

I propose fresh and cooperative leadership on budget formation, tax dollar allocation and strategic use of City assets and resources. Drawing on my legal and financial experience working on Wall Street and Bay Street, including as senior legal counsel to a world-leading asset management firm working with institutional investors, including many of Canada’s ‘Maple Eight’ pension funds and sovereign wealth funds, I will focus on better outcomes for Burlington. I promise transformative efficiency, transparency and smarter budget decisions – ensuring predictable property taxes and best-in-class decision-making with our tax dollars.

Preserving Our Neighbourhoods

Preserve what has made our communities a model for others.
I want thoughtful and well-planned growth, not chaos in high-rise development and traffic congestion, as we increasingly become a drive-through city for commuters. I want to address past mistakes and assess how we can undo some of the damage done to our waterfront and downtown core.

My main areas of focus will be: the Orchard, which deserves special consideration, with traffic and crime posing serious challenges; the Appleby Village which requires careful foresight to control development; and South Burlington traditional home enclaves, which require thoughtful planning, not just infill conversions to semis, triplexes and quads.

Community Safety

Safer streets start with prevention, partnership and fresh thinking. I will work closely with the residents and Halton Regional Police Service to expand pro-active safety measures. I want safer streets with dedicated community officers and more traffic calming for certain streets.

Available and Energetic Voice

At 33, I bring a long-term perspective to public service. My vision extends far beyond getting elected because Burlington is my home. Having recently started a family, I am invested in ensuring that future generations can enjoy the same quality of life, strong neighbourhoods, and sense of community that made Burlington such a special place to grow up. I want for my son to experience the Burlington that I love.

I am encouraged that many other candidates share these values. Burlington's challenges and opportunities require fresh thinking, collaboration, and a collective commitment to building a stronger future together.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why are you running for Councillor?

I believe in public service and giving back. My interest in public service started in middle school when I participated in a fundraiser for a new MRI machine for the Joseph Brant Hospital. Later, in grade 8, I served as a Legislative Page in the Ontario Legislature. That experience – seeing how ideas and dedicated people make changes – influenced me deeply.

At 33 years old, a new father, I want to use my academic and legal skills to make a difference. I understand the self-discipline, accountability and energy it takes to get the job done. I believe my insights and knowledge will be an asset to fellow Councillors and the City. This sums the answer to the question: a desire to deliver change for the better, willingness to step forward and the energy to do it.

Why did you choose Ward 5?

Ward 5 is home and where I grew up. I played in the parks, jogged the streets and understand the community.

Top priorities for you?

Burlington needs vision. The future is not tomorrow; it is 5, 10, 20 and 30 years out. Looking at the state of the City’s affairs, we have serious areas for improvement: traffic congestion, high-rise developments in the wrong places and affordability problems for both the young and ageing populations. Crime is also an issue with increasing instances of home break-ins and car thefts. With dozens of recently reported car thefts in the Ward, the current solutions are clearly inadequate. I am concerned with the successive years of high property tax increases in Burlington. I worry about the impact of the recurring annual 10% property tax increases for the past four consecutive years. This kind of taxation is unsustainable. It will at some point price-out many Burlingtonians. I have spoken to other City Council candidates in other Wards who are saying the same things. I have the skills to help us manage better future budget outcomes. City spending and budgeting will be different if I am elected with other like-minded fresh voices.

How do you feel running against Burlington’s longest serving (16 years) incumbent?

Respectful and humbled. I admire the incumbent and he has been supportive of me over many years. However, my message is simple: after 16 years and four terms in office, residents deserve the opportunity to consider fresh perspective. Experience and institutional knowledge are valuable, and I respect the contributions he has made to our community. At the same time, Burlington is facing new challenges that require new ideas, long-term thinking and leadership that reflects the future we are building. I believe public service is strongest when new voices have the opportunity to step forward while benefiting from the wisdom and experience of those who have served before us.
